FROM A SAVED RECORDING TO TEXT

Facebook video transcript in three steps

A simple workflow that gets out of your way.

01

Choose your original recording

Select a supported video file saved on your device. Only upload recordings you own or are authorized to process; a Facebook post link is not a video file.

02

Review the recording estimate

We read the file duration and show the estimated charge before you start. Check that the recording fits the upload size and duration limits.

03

Correct and export the transcript

Review the speech, correct names and details, then copy text or export TXT, SRT or VTT. Check subtitle timing in your editor before sharing.

Work with the original behind your Facebook video

Start from the file you already have

If you created the video, use the original recording from your camera, phone or editor. Choose that file from your device. A Facebook URL, screenshot or saved-post bookmark cannot be uploaded as a recording. This page does not retrieve videos from Facebook.

A transcript of speech, not the surrounding post

Speech recognition creates text from the audio in your file. The result does not import Facebook post descriptions, comments, reactions or existing platform captions. Words printed on screen are not extracted. Check that the file contains audible speech before submitting it.

Use a saved recording after a live session

You can upload an authorized recording of a finished session if it is saved as a supported file and fits the limits. This tool does not join, capture or transcribe a live Facebook stream in real time. Use the recording you actually want reflected in the transcript.

Check the file before a longer transcription

An uploaded file must be 100 MB or smaller; paid recordings must also be no longer than 60 minutes. Both limits apply. If you edit a larger original into shorter authorized clips, keep track of their order. Each clip has its own estimate, task and exported timeline.

Review names and speaker changes

Listen again where voices overlap, music is loud or a name is unfamiliar. Speaker labels may help distinguish turns, but they do not identify people. Text edits stay in your current result tab and are included in its exports; save your corrected copy before leaving.

Choose a format for the next step

Export TXT for readable notes or a document. SRT and VTT include timestamps for compatible subtitle editors and players. Check the destination’s format requirements and sync against the same video file. Exporting here does not publish subtitles to Facebook.

Supported files: MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WebM, MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, AAC. Uploaded files must be 100 MB or smaller and fit your duration allowance. Sign in for a one-time cumulative 60-second trial; paid recordings can be up to 60 minutes. Both upload size and duration limits apply. TXT, SRT and VTT exports include available timestamps. Original-language transcription, with automatic language detection. Accuracy varies by language and recording.

THE LITTLE THINGS, EXPLAINED

A few good questions.

Clear answers before you press transcribe.

Can I paste a link to get a Facebook video transcript?+

No. This page accepts files uploaded from your device. Use an original recording you own or are authorized to process. Facebook link transcription is not supported.

Can I use my original video instead of the Facebook post?+

Yes. Upload the original supported audio or video file. The transcript follows that file, so use the version whose words and timing you need.

Can I transcribe a saved Facebook Live recording?+

You can upload an authorized file of a finished session within the size and duration limits. This service does not capture or transcribe a live stream as it happens.

Does this recover the captions or comments on Facebook?+

No. It transcribes speech in your uploaded recording. It does not connect to Facebook or retrieve the post’s caption track, description or comments.

Can I correct and export the subtitles?+

Yes. Correct the text in the result page and export that draft as TXT, SRT or VTT. Edits remain in the current tab. Adjust subtitle timing in a compatible editor if needed.
